This basement improvement project was designed as an office/showroom floor. The floor had been previously painted with a grey floor paint and was removed by using a combination of sanding and stripping.
A base color of "Malay Tan" acid stain was added first followed with a black acid stain randomly squirted onto the floor to create a bit of contrast. A pattern composed of large diamonds and small squares was scored into the stained concrete surface. The small squares were stained with a black acrylic stain. The scored lines were filled with black grout. A surprising benefit of the black grout was that a small amount of grout was absorbed into the surrounding concrete leaving a faded black stripe along the scored lines.
